Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering
The Steel and Mixed Construction Technologies Group of ISISE, based at the University of Coimbra, is a research group committed to research in steel and composite construction and it has extensive experience in performing and delivering international research projects and cooperation with industry.
Only in recent years, the University of Coimbra has successfully accomplished several RFCS projects of a similar nature to C4C (EQUALJOINTS; EQUALJOINTS-Plus, INNO3DJOINTS, FAILNOMORE, FREEDAM, FREEDAM-Plus), to name a few. The group focuses on exploring combinations of steel with materials like concrete, glass, aluminum, timber, and polymers.
It also integrates into their research geotechnical expertise related to offshore applications and environmental aspects. The group’s interdisciplinary team develops cutting-edge technologies and practical solutions, using rigorous testing and advanced simulation techniques.
In this project, UC is the coordinator and a major contributor to project coordination and experimental, numerical and theoretical expertise in steel joints).
